Remote Starter Diagnosis
Is your remote starter  not working properly..... the following should help you fix it yourself our decide whether it needs to be fixed by a certified installer.

Step 1: Follow The questions that best fits your problem when you use your transmitter.

Does your vehicle do nothing when prompted to start..............................................Step 2
Does your door locks operate from your transmitter, but the starter will not.............Step 2
Does your vehicle start and stall...........................................................................Step 3
Does your vehicle power up the ignition, but does not crank....................................Step 3
Does your starter operate from your transmitter, but you door locks do not..............Step 4
Does the parklights flash a number of times on a start attempt...............................Step 5

Step 2: Batteries
- Always check the batteries on the remotes first, customer may have even put batteries in backwards. Most transmitters or key fobs have a light indicator that illuminates when a button is depressed. Even if the light does not illuminate, the transmitter still may work. All batteries should read a higher voltage than the value indicated on the battery (eg. 1.5V battery may read 1.6V) . A good rule of thumb for replacing batteries is if the voltage is the same or less than the value indicated on the battery then replace it.(eg 1.5V battery measures 1.5V or 1.4V) If the battery was low verify that the starter now works, if not go to step 6.

Step 3: Security
Please note: when trying this procedure you should not allow the remote starter to attempt to start more than twice or the vehicle may go into a theft lock out. This will not let you start the vehicle with or without your key as well as the remote starter.
- Looking for your security light..( Chev/GM/Saturn/Pontiac/Buick...have the light either on the instrument panel or in the center console at the information center, where it will either say security or show a lock symbol. Dodge/Chrysler/Jeep will have the security light in the instrument cluster as a red light or circle. Some may have it located just to the right of the cluster. Ford/Lincoln have either a red light on the top of the dash or a theft light or a locked light in the instrument cluster).
- Go to the vehicle then sit inside the vehicle and close the door behind you, put the key in the ignition and turn it on. The security light should come on solid then go out. Remove the key from the ignition switch and watch that security light while trying to remote start. If the security light starts to flash then the bypass kit may be faulty. To verify that it is the bypass kit, place the key into the ignition ( Do not turn the ignition) and try to remote start. If the vehicle starts and stays running then the bypass kit needs to be serviced by a technician.. If the vehicle still doesn't start then the tach should be relearned. This can be done by
selecting the make of starter on the left hand side.

Step 4: Doorlocks
Note: some installers don't install doorlocks.
- Check the power doorlock switch from both the driverside and passengerside of the vehicle. if the vehicle locks don't operate from the vehicle, check the fuses. If they do operate there may be a connector unplugged at the starter module. You can attempt to check if you feel comfortable or bring it to your nearest installer.

Step 5: Parklight diagnosis
- When a remote start is attempted the vehicle will flash a set of parklights or with some starters this is done through a LED. Installers use the flashes to diagnose what is wrong by counting the number and the duration of the flash. Count the number of slow flashes and quick flashes and write it down. If you don't have any flashes or nothing seems to happen, sit in the vehicle and attempt to remote start again. This time listen for clicking down by the brake pedal and count the number of clicks. Then if you know what kind of starter you have click on the link to the left. If you still have no starter flashing or clicking service is required.

Step 6: Checking fuses
- This may be a little more difficult then one would think. The starter may be located behind some panels, that you might make you feel more comfortable having an installer look at. If this is not the case, locate the starter harness and trace until you find 1 or 2 30amp fuses. Once you have located them you may have to remove them to see if they are blown. If the fuses are blown replace them with the same size of fuse and verify fix, if not continue to step 7.

Step 7: Transmitter Learn
- There may have been a chance that the transmitter lost its connection with the remote starter. Usually before this step we would recommend swapping out the antenna first, however most likely there isn't an extra one available.
Find out what make and model the starter is and then click the brand name to the left that corresponds. Once it is selected follow the instructions under transmitter learn.
